Pot Luck Wednesday

August 1 - 3, 2008    Public Days, Gates open at 10 a.m.

(Closed dates are Tuesday, Wed, Thursday), Public Days are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

Wed. Eve "Opening Camp Meeting" at 6 p.m. in the Public Picnic area up front, prior to the annual Potluck supper, with the Annual Cribbage Tournament taking place in Dad's Tavern for those over age 21 starting at 8 p.m.   (You can refrigerate or plug in crockpots in the food booth area, (be sure to label your items) earlier in the day or week, for the POT LUCK, as a safety precaution.)

All day set up and preparations going on Monday. Gates opened to check in between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., then locked for the night.

Tuesday and Wednesday drive-in times are 7 - 10 a.m., and again at night 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.  We want to respect participants' need for quiet camp and small group activity times. 8 p.m. - Midnight marks the opening of Dad's Tavern with  both wine, beer, nonalch. beer, and 1919 Root Beer  available, and also the Family Bon-Fire & S'mores Night.  Bring your kids and meet your neighbors at the big bon fire. Participants are sure welcome to offer entertainment for the families. Anyone is invited to plan lawn games for the kids these two nights. (we have croquet sets to use)

We do need to respect longer setup times for big traders like Ray & Rosie, Two Eagles Kitchen, Hannibal, etc. If you feel you may have difficulty, please talk to us. We'd rather have you wait with driving in, as many people have taken their yearly vacation during this time and really appreciate the quiet days. If it isn't possible, we need to respect that need, but please don't abuse this option. Very few should be in that category. We do have a big wagon that guys can help you with to at least get your tent in and set up early, until the 7 P.M. drive-in for the rest of your unpacking.

Also starting  Wed., Thursday and Friday are Hawk Range classes for all ages and beginning skills from 10 to 11 a.m., Supervized "Open Family Hour"  from 11 - 12 noon, and from 12 -12:30 practice for ages 14 and under, 12:30 to 1, women 14 and up, 1-1:30 Men ages 14 and up. All these supervised, scheduled times are with Wes Walberg.

Conclusion of planned & supervised Hawk Range Times: the range will  be supervised by a planned White Oak assigned person between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily,  and outside of these planned activities, adults and supervised children can use the range for their own enjoyment, but stressing supervision and being responsible!!!!! If anyone sees anything else going on that shouldn't be, please step up to help out, so everyone is safe. NO UNSUPERVISED CHILDREN ALLOWED ! Parents need to be responsible for their children & be with them.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Blackpowder range will offer scheduled beginner classes,  supervised practice times, and planned competitions. Bill (Swill) Polchow  will hold the beginner classses at the far "Novelty Shoot" area during the lunch hour when the rest of the range is closed, and Dennis Hill will be offering the Experienced Range Activites and Competitions. The plan is to offer alternate times, so not to mix the noise level of either section, for everyone's best concentration and safety!

Use of the range before Friday is fine, but there needs to be a responsible adult supervising. Dennis Hill, camped near the entrance, needs to be notified & asked.

(There will be available to purchase a variety of shooting items you may need. See Chuck or Swill.

Thursday drive-in times are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., as everyone is scurrying to arrive for the three public days. Vehicles will be in for first time unloading only.

Friday and Saturday Morning drive-ins are being added 7 - 9:15 a.m. We had many requests of arrivals at those times, and to accommodate these, we voted to add these two morning times. BUT,everyone must be ready for the 10 a.m. Public Opening all three days.

(Pictured is the Wednesday Pot-Luck. All family participants are welcome, enjoy the great food, good conversation and friends old and new around the camp pot. This is a great time to register your Silent Auction Donations!

Bring a dish to share - we ran out last year, so please bring according to your size group. We ask that you be extremely careful in this heat for keeping food safe. Welcoming & Info Meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. - then eats! Please feel free to offer music, storytelling, and whatever.

There is a $3 entrance fee. Open only to 21 and over, as it is during the "Beer & Wine Garden" hours and the taven will really be open for service and watching the tournament!
